Unreal playing facts

Single Player Facts
Estimated 30-40 single player levels, 12 Deathmatch levels, and secret levels.
Levels contain between 10,000-20,000 polygons
The outdoor levels will contain many low polygon things such as lakes, mountains, plateaus, valleys.
There are duplicated areas between the facades of levels (outdoors) and their interiors, and the level switching takes place at these areas by teleporting.
Levels created in UnrealEd, Epic's own map editor which will be released with the game.
Shadows are unlikely due to performance hits, but the probable choice for shadows will be fuzzy shadows which are correctly applied with respect to all lights and polygons
The sky is modeled using Portals, little information is known on this subject.
Unreal will use several effects to simulate splashes and other water movements
Reflections unlikely, maybe a 3d hardware only effect like GlQuake
Unreal will not use particles, instead it will use fractal texture effects
The outdoor terrain uses the same BSP engine as the indoor engine to allow complex scenery such as overhangs and caves
Unreal uses a combination of BSP, Portals, and Pre-computed Data for VSD (Visual Surface Determination)
Unreal creatures are gouraud shaded by each lightsource which hits them.
The hierarchy can only be one level deep, so there are no moving brushes on top of moving brushes.
Brushes can be set to stop, or to keep moving, when they hit players, monsters, etc.
There is no collision checking between brushes and other brushes.
The axis of rotation can be anywhere, so orbiting is possible.
Rotational velocity is specified with pitch/yaw/roll
The Engine supports two-sided polygons

Multiplayer Facts
Unreal supports Modem, Serial Link, Network, and Internet play
The only limiting factor on the number of players is the power of the server
Servers can be linked by entering the URL of the other server, similar to a hyperlink in html
Players move to different servers through teleports
Unreal uses "ultra-lo-res" models of the weapons to allow you to see what the other player is carrying
Unreal uses autonomous client-side movement to make your own movement as smooth as in a single player game
Addition play modes similar to ctf
Unreal will have both Coop and Deathmatch modes
You cannot save multiplayer games.
