Infantry
The basic unit in the game. Infantry can be built singularly or in squads. Squads increase the firepower and are quicker to move. Only really useful in huge numbers (5 squads or more), they can however capture enemy buildings.

Trike (Available From The Starport)
There are two versions of the trike, the Atreides and Ordos. The Ordos' version is quicker, but has no armour, the Atreides' version is slower and has armour. Best used as a scouting lookout, to uncover the map.
House Atreides, Harkonnen
Requirements Light Factory

Speed 72 kph
Armor Light
Vulnerabilities Vulnerable to nearly all vehicles

Requirements Upgraded Light Factory
Range Short
Speed 59 kph
Armor Light
Vulnerabilities Resistant to infantry and explosives. Vulnerable to missiles and high caliber weapons
Abilities Slower than Trike, but stronger in both armor and fire power. It is a four wheeled vehicle firing armor piercing rounds and is effective against most vehicles

Combat Tank (Available From The Starport)
The first Tank you will be able to build. It's quick-ish and packs a reasonable punch. A good use for these is base defence and escorts to rocket launchers.
House All
Requirements Heavy Factory
Range Medium
Speed 40km/h
Armor Medium
Vulnerabilities Combat Tanks are resistant to infantry and explosives, but vulnerable to missiles and high caliber weapons
Abilities Effective against most vehicles

Heavy Siege Tank (Available From The Starport)
Another unit that is unavailable to the Atreides, the heavy siege tank is more than a combat tank with a huge gun mounted to it! With heavy armour to add to the equation, it makes for a very useful unit to lead attacks.
House All
Requirements Upgraded Heavy Factory
Range Long
Speed 32 kph
Armor Heavy
Vulnerabilities Resistant to bullets, and somewhat, high explosives. Vulnerable to missiles and high caliber weapons
Abilities Very effective against infantry and unarmored vehicles but slow, and very weak against anything heavily armored

Rocket Launcher (Available From The Starport)
These are a very useful addition to any side. Ordos' version is a special unit and they cannot build the standard version. They can however purchase the standard version from the starport
House Atreides, Harkonnen, Ordos (through starport)
Requirements Upgraded Heavy Factory and IX Research Center(Starport)
Range Long
Speed 40 kph
Armor Medium
Vulnerabilities Vulnerable to nearly all weapons
Abilities Faster than battle tanks and can hit targets in the air. Also effective against most vehicles but vulnerable to infantry

Harvester (Available From The Starport)
Arguably the most important unit in the game, without these, you are not going to get very far. It is desperately slow, but heavily armoured, so not best deployed in the middle of the battle field. It will however automatically run over any foot units that attack it. (Making a sickening crunching sound and leaving a rather nice red mark behind on the sand!) - Ah, that sound brings back memories..;-)
House All
Requirements Refinery
Range N/A
Speed 45 kph
Armor Medium
Vulnerabilities Resistant to infantry and some explosives but are vulnerable to missiles and high caliber weapons
Abilities This unit is the most important unit in the game, it provides you with your cash flow. When it returns to the Refinery the harvested spice is converted to credits

Carry All (Available From The Starport)
These are probally the most usefull unit in the army. They can transport harvesters or any other wheeled unit around the map. The harvesters go to and from the refineries, and the vehicles to and from the repair depot. Rather expensive, but in the later levels where you must get as many credits as possible, these units keep the credits coming as fast as they are harvested!
House All
Requirements High Tech Factory
Range N/A
Speed 160km/h
Armor Heavy
Vulnerabilities Only can be hit by missiles, like from the Rocket Turret and Missile Launcher
Abilities These units have no weapons but are used to transport vehicles. They will pick up your harvester and return it to the Refinery and then back to the spice fields. Also will deliver damaged units back to the Repair Bay

MCV (Mobile Construction Vehicle) (Available From The Starport)
Another usefull (and in some missions, vital) unit, the MCV is a mobile Construction Vehicle. It can move around the map and deploy itself anywhere you like (as long as it's on rock). Quite expensive at 900 credits, but it can be picked up for a bargin from the starport.
House All
Requirements Upgraded Heavy Factory and Repair Pad
Range N/A
Speed 15 kph
Armor Medium
Vulnerabilities Resistant to infantry and some explosives. Vulnerable to missiles and high caliber weapons
Abilities The MCV can be moved to a location of your choice and then deployed to create a new base of operations

Sonic Tank (Special Unit)
Only available to the Atreides (to make up for no WOR or Siege tank, no doubt), these tanks are unique in the way they work, they fire sonic waves at their target, making it a deadly addition to any army. Only one problem with this unit, the sound waves damage all units within it's range, even friendly. Best used with care.
House Atreides
Requirements IX Research Center and Heavy Factory
Range Medium
Speed 44km/h foot
Armor Medium
Vulnerabilities Resistant to infantry and explosives but vulnerable to missiles and tanks
Abilities It fires a sound wave in a form of a sonic wave which is very effective against infantry and lightly armored vehicles. All units in the path of the sonic wave will be damaged

Ordos Deviator (Special Unit)
Only available to the Ordos, this unit is not a offensive weapon at all, it is a modified Rocket Launcher that fires nerve gas at it's target. If successful, it causes the unit's loyalty to temporarily change, best used against Harkonnen Devastators, deviate and self-destruct them inside their own base!
House Ordos
Requirements IX Research Center and Heavy Factory
Range Medium
Speed 30 kph
Armor Medium
Vulnerabilities Vulnerable to nearly all types of weapons
Abilities This unit will cause no actual damage to the units. It fires a warhead which changes the allegiance of the vehicle for a time but does not effect infantry units

Harkonnen Devastator (Special Unit)
This huge tank is the main battle tank of the Harkonnens, Quite slow but heavily armoured, it is a force to be reckoned with, well only if in groups. Easily defeated if used on it's own. However, when it explodes the force of the explosion causes damage to the near-by area. Useful as a kamikaze unit, trundle it into an opponents base, park it next to a structure (or two) and issue the self-destruct command.
House Harkonnen
Requirements IX Research Center and Heavy Factory
Range Medium
Speed 30km/h
Armor Heavy
Vulnerabilities Resistant to nearly everything, but is somewhat vulnerable to missiles and high caliber weapons
Abilities The most powerful tank on the planet but slow to move and reload. It uses atomic power and fires dual plasma charges but can become unstable when greatly damaged. Also can be set to self-destruct causing damage to the surrounding area

Ornithopter (Special Unit)

House Atreides
Requirements High Tech Factory upgraded
Range N/A
Speed 340 kph
Armor Light
Vulnerabilities Vulnerable to only missiles
Abilities Fastest unit on Dune and drops bombs on the targets below. Effective against infantry but once given the command to strike it immediatly heads to that location

Saboteur (Special Unit)
Slightly less than usefull in Dune2, the ordos' special unit makes an appearance in Dune2000.
House Ordos
Requirements Ordos Palace
Range N/A
Speed 15 kph, foot
Armor Light
Vulnerabilities Resistant to anti-tank weapons but vulnerable to explosive and infantry
Abilities The Saboteur can enter a building, immediatly destroy it

Fremem (Special Unit)
The fremem were also not much use in Dune2, uncontrollable and a bit useless. However expect much better and more use from them in Dune2000.
House Atreides
Requirements Atreides Palace
Range Medium
Speed 17 kph, foot
Armor Medium
Vulnerabilities Resistant to anti-tank weapons but vulnerable to other infantry and explosives
Abilities Fremen are the warriors of Dune, they know the planet and are effective against any targets. Fremen are stealth units and can only be seen once they come within range of other infantry units

Death Hand (Special Unit)
Ok, now we're talking. Dune's equivilant of a nuke. Can be woefully inaccurate though. Aim where the highest concentration of the enemy is, and you may stand a chance of a kill!
House Harkonnen
Requirements Harkonnen Palace
Range N/A
Speed 700 kph
Armor Light
Vulnerabilities None, if one is heading your way, pray.
Abilities Carries multiple warheads of atomic power which causes damage to wide areas but innacurate at times

Sardaukar (Special Unit)
The sardaukar were in Dune2, a bit pathetic and weak, they were no challange (except when they were dropped behind your base and the nearest unit was miles away!) They appear to have gained a machine gun in this version. Nice for cutting up infantry with.
House Emperor
Requirements Barracks
Range Medium
Speed 15 kph, foot
Armor Medium
Vulnerabilities Vulnerable to explosives and infantry but resistant to anti-tank weapons
Abilities The Sardaukar are elite troops that will fire missiles against armored units and machine guns against other infantry

The frigates ferry purchases made from the starport to your base
House All
Requirements Starport
Range N/A
Speed 250 kph
Abilities The Frigate will deliver the units ordered from the Starport but is not controllable

Sand Worm (Special Unit)
The bane of many a commander. You're off fighting - you hear a groaning noise, you rush to where your last harvester was, just to find that it had been eaten. Oh joy. :-)
Speed 30 KPH
Armor Heavy
Vulnerabilities Vulnerable to missiles and tanks but resistant to infantry and explosives, difficult to destroy
Abilities The Sand Worm is attracted by vibrations in the sand, it will eat units whole and has a large appetite
